Hello

I'm Juliet, founder of For the Love of Film. As you may have already guessed I am passionate about film and telling unique and personal stories through film. I’m a Writer and Director, a Script Tutor and Assessor at the VCA, a proud Mum of two super gorgeous kids and an even more gorgeous staffy and a bulldog puppy (did I say that out loud?).

Upon graduating from the VCA School of Film and Television with a master’s degree I have written and directed several award-winning films that have screened at various local and international festivals and worked with some of Australia's finest actors. As a filmmaker myself, and as a workshop facilitator, I aspire to create stories that are both moving and evocative and to support students to make films that truly make a difference.

Films have always inspired and helped me to feel more connected in the world. Yet, as a female in the film industry, I am all too aware that there is a huge lack of gender diversity behind the screens which results in a lack of gender diversity up on the screen.

In 2019 I started For The Love of Film’s Workshops to address this gender imbalance. I want to put more diverse filmmakers behind the scenes so we can see more diverse and better representations on our screens.

Good films are made with good equipment, technicians, and actors. But great films are made with heart. Through the workshops I hope to empower girls, women, and gender diverse people to share their realities and to tell their stories with a whole lotta heart!

About For The Love Of Film

For the Love of Film was born in 2019 to provide creative, hands-on, collaborative, and fun filmmaking workshops that empower diverse filmmakers to tell stories that matter to them. Through the sharing of stories, I truly believe film has the power to create a positive change and connection in the world.

Based in Yarraville, Melbourne, and run by professional filmmakers (all of whom have Working With Children permits), we run narrative and documentary filmmaking workshops that cover all the fundamentals of filmmaking. Using professional equipment our workshops simulate a proper film set with participants given the opportunity to try their hand at all the crew roles to gain a full understanding of this powerful art form.

Our students

Collaboration is the very essence of filmmaking; it really is the ultimate team sport. We support and encourage participants to share ideas and work cohesively to make their vision a reality.

Diversity is what makes our world and the world of film interesting, this is reflected in our students. Our students are a mix of personality types, personal traits, and gender identity. In film there is a place for the shy, the extrovert, the organisers, and the dreamers.

Our filmmaking workshops are built to ensure that everyone has access to learn the incredible art of film.
